I have begun my Whole30 journey! Hurray!!

I first learned of the Whole30 program here and with the help and support of Kim, we are going to chase after the program.

The Whole30 plan is a plan to eat all Paleo foods and withhold sugars and other processed foods for 30 days in order to allow your body a fresh start for eating healthy! The idea is that in the 30 days you cleanse your body of foods it doesn’t need and teaching it to desire foods you do need!

A Paleo diet comes from the ancient or cave-man times of how people used to eat. Minimal sugars. No processed foods. And rare treats or delicacies….

I recently read this article about what a 20 something’s body SHOULD be like and then compared it to what mine actually is and decided it was time to take action. The Whole30 plan is NOT a diet and is NOT a weight loss program. If you are looking into or feel inspired by my decision to do the Whole30 program please realize that is not what this is. This is a plan to help me break poor eating habits and develop new ones that lead to a healthier body!

Here’s to getting old and having to watch what I eat.

July 4, 2012: folks I went to the movies and didn’t have one piece of popcorn. This was so hard for me, but hey. It’s the price I pay I guess.

July 5, 2012: I spent most of the night throwing up only to learn that the coconut milk I had been using had gone bad. Not ok. CHECK THE LABEL.

July 9, 2012: the cravings are really kicking in today. Several times last week I would have killed for a hot buttery roll or a bowl of ice cream. I am dreaming about sugar and bread. Literally. So it is obvious my body is beginning to notice the difference.

July 10, 2012: While the cravings are still roaring I am beginning to feel a lot better. I run on a treadmill and I can run for longer periods of time and faster than I used to be able to.

July 18, 2012: Eating Paleo is getting a lot easier. This weekend I didn’t have any cravings. I took the kids out for ice cream and I watched them eat it all and it wasn’t even that bad. Yea, I wanted it, but I was able to live without it. I feel so much better about my body and myself. I am able to run for much longer periods of time on the treadmill now!!
